Paton is a farming town of 273 people in central Iowa, about an hour northwest of Des Moines via Highway 4 and Interstate 35. The town sits along Highway 4, which connects north to Jefferson and south toward Perry. Most visitors are passing through on agricultural business or heading to larger towns for services. The working grain elevator complex towers over Main Street and serves as both the town's economic center and most recognizable landmark.
