Parsons sits in southeastern Kansas along US Highway 400, about 120 miles south of Kansas City and 30 miles from Oklahoma. The city connects to Wichita via Highway 400 west and links north to Ottawa on US 59. Local routes include Highway 7 northeast and Highway 160 to Coffeyville. Labette Community College's clock tower has marked the Highway 400 corridor since 1963.
