Parmele is a small farming town in eastern North Carolina's Martin County, accessible via US Highway 64. The main route connects Rocky Mount (25 miles west) with the Outer Banks region, passing through tobacco country and pine forests. Most visitors arrive from Rocky Mount or Williamston on US 64, which intersects NC 125 near town. The old Norfolk Southern railroad depot still stands downtown, marking Parmele's history as a passenger train stop.
