Parchment is a small city of 2,000 people just northeast of Kalamazoo, easily reached via I-94 Exit 85. It's a quick drive to Western Michigan University and serves as a quiet residential base for the broader Kalamazoo area. The city gets its distinctive name from the Kalamazoo Vegetable Parchment Company, which ran a paper mill here for nearly 90 years making specialized food packaging paper.
