Panama is a tiny farming town 15 miles southeast of Lincoln on Highway 43. Most visitors drive from Lincoln or take I-80 to the Hickman exit. The community of 232 people sits among corn and soybean fields in classic Nebraska prairie country. Highway 43 runs right through town as the main street. The preserved one-room schoolhouse from 1888 still stands as a reminder of the area's agricultural heritage.
