Panama is a tiny farming town of 245 people in western Iowa's Shelby County. Highway 44 provides the main access, connecting to I-80 about 15 miles south near Harlan. It's roughly 45 miles northeast of Omaha via Highway 92 and local roads. The area features rolling agricultural land typical of western Iowa, with corn and soybean fields dominating the landscape. Panama sits near the watershed divide between the Boyer and West Nishnabotna rivers.
