Palo is a small Iowa farming town about 15 miles northwest of Cedar Rapids via Highway 94. Most traffic comes from Cedar Rapids residents heading to the countryside or locals commuting to the city for work. The town sits in typical Iowa corn country with rolling hills and scattered tree groves. Palo still uses an old-fashioned fire bell to call volunteer firefighters during emergencies.
