Palmyra is a small farming community in central Illinois, about 40 miles from St. Louis via I-55 and Route 4. The town of under 500 people sits in rolling prairie turned agricultural land. Most visitors arrive from Springfield (25 miles) or the St. Louis area, using Route 4 as the main access road. The restored 1870s railroad depot recalls when trains connected these prairie towns to major cities.
