Palmetto straddles US Highway 41 where it crosses the Manatee River between Tampa and Sarasota. Interstate 75 sits about 10 miles east, reached via Cortez Road or US 301. Sarasota Bradenton International Airport is 15 miles south on US 41. The 1913 Palmetto Riverside Bed and Breakfast, originally the area's first luxury hotel, still welcomes guests as a historic inn.
