Palmer is a tiny farming community in central Illinois with about 240 residents. Take I-55 to the Pawnee exit, then head west on local roads for 10 miles. It's 25 miles from Springfield and serves the surrounding agricultural area. The village post office has operated since the late 1800s and still functions as an informal community gathering spot.
