Palisade is a farming town of 321 people in southwestern Nebraska where Highway 6 and Highway 17 intersect. Highway 6 connects it to McCook 25 miles east and continues toward Colorado, while Highway 17 runs north-south to Culbertson and Kansas. The grain elevator towers over the prairie, visible for miles along Highway 6.
