Painted Post is a small Finger Lakes community near Corning, connected by Interstate 86 and Route 415. The village of 1,800 sits where historic waterways meet, with easy access to Rochester, Elmira, and regional attractions. Elmira Corning Regional Airport is 12 miles east. The town gets its unique name from a painted wooden post that Indigenous peoples used to mark territory at the local river confluence.
