Packwood is a small farming town in southeastern Iowa, about 15 miles southwest of Fairfield via Highway 34. The main route connects through Fairfield to Highway 1 north toward Iowa City or Highway 218 south to Mount Pleasant. Most traffic is local agricultural and commuter vehicles heading to nearby towns. The working grain elevator along the railroad tracks remains a prominent landmark of the community's agricultural heritage.
