Owaneco is a small farming town in central Illinois, about 25 miles southeast of Springfield via Route 104. With just over 600 residents, it sits in Christian County's agricultural heartland where corn and soybean fields dominate the landscape. Most visitors arrive from Springfield on Route 104 through Pawnee, or from I-55 via Exit 82. The town's water tower displays its Native American name in traditional lettering, honoring the Potawatomi chief for whom it was named.
