Ovilla is a small city in Ellis County, about 25 miles south of Dallas via I-35E and Highway 67. Most visitors arrive from the Dallas-Fort Worth area using Highway 67 as the main corridor. The town of 4,400 sits in rolling Texas terrain and maintains its rural character while serving as a bedroom community. The Ovilla Historical Museum is housed in an 1895 cotton gin with original wooden machinery still intact.
