Ovid is a tiny farming town of 468 people in Colorado's far northeast corner, just eight miles from Nebraska. US Highway 138 runs right through town, connecting south to Interstate 76 and north to the state line. It's about 150 miles from Denver and 30 miles north of Sterling. The massive grain elevator dominates the skyline and can be spotted from miles away across the flat prairie.
