Osyka is a small Mississippi town of 400 people located eight miles from Louisiana on Interstate 55. The main route connects Jackson (two hours north) with New Orleans (90 minutes south), while Highway 24 runs east-west to McComb. The town sits in pine forest country with a subtropical climate. Its restored railroad depot recalls the days when the Illinois Central line made Osyka an important stop between Chicago and New Orleans.
