Oswego sits on Lake Ontario's shore, 35 miles northwest of Syracuse via I-81 and Route 104. This college town and county seat gets heavy lake-effect snow but offers great summer boating. The main routes are Route 104 from Syracuse and I-690, plus Route 3 from the north. Historic Fort Ontario overlooks the harbor where the Oswego River meets the lake, its 1755 stone walls still intact.
