Orleans is a small farming town of about 500 people in northwest Iowa's Dickinson County. Highway 9 provides the main east-west route through town, connecting to Spirit Lake 15 miles northwest and Highway 71 for longer trips. The surrounding prairie landscape supports corn and soybean farming, with the town retaining its original 1880s street grid and several historic Main Street buildings from the railroad era.
