Orinda is an upscale suburb in Contra Costa County's hills, about 20 miles east of San Francisco via Highway 24. The main route runs through the Caldecott Tunnel from Oakland and Berkeley, continuing east toward Walnut Creek. Popular drives include the daily SF commute and weekend trips to Mount Diablo or Moraga wine country. The 1941 Art Deco Orinda Theatre with its iconic neon sign serves as the downtown centerpiece.
