Orient is a tiny farming town of 91 people in north-central South Dakota, accessible via US Highway 212 which runs east-west through the community. The highway connects Orient to Redfield (25 miles east) and Faulkton (20 miles west), while State Highway 47 provides north-south access through Faulk County. The town's historic grain elevator towers over the prairie landscape and serves as a prominent landmark visible from miles away.
