Ore City is a small East Texas town of about 850 people, located 20 miles southwest of Marshall via State Highway 155. The main route in follows Highway 155 north from Interstate 20, connecting to Dallas and points west. Locals use Highway 155 for trips to Marshall and Gilmer. The town sits in the Piney Woods region and gets its name from historic iron ore mining operations whose remnants still dot the countryside.
