Ord is a farming town of 2,100 in central Nebraska's Loup River valley. Take Highway 11 north from Grand Island (45 miles) or west from Highway 70. The town serves as Valley County's seat, surrounded by corn fields and cattle ranches. Each summer, Ord hosts the Nebraska State BBQ Championship, turning the central park into a smoky competition ground for pitmasters from across the Midwest.
