Opal is a tiny Wyoming community of 77 people sitting along US Highway 30 in Lincoln County's high desert. Most visitors arrive from Kemmerer, 12 miles east, where Highway 30 meets US 189. The town sits at 6,800 feet elevation with the Green River valley stretching toward distant peaks. Opal lies directly on the original Lincoln Highway, America's first coast-to-coast auto route from 1913.
