Onaway is a tiny community of 263 people in northern Idaho's Latah County, about 15 miles northeast of Moscow near the Washington border. You'll reach it via State Route 6 from Moscow, which connects to US-95 for longer trips to Spokane or Coeur d'Alene. The town sits in forested hills at 2,600 feet elevation, surrounded by the mix of farmland and timber typical of this area between the Palouse wheat country and Idaho's northern forests. The post office doubles as an informal community center.
