Onamia is a lakeside town of about 700 people on Mille Lacs Lake, 90 miles north of Minneapolis via US Highway 169. The main route takes you through Princeton and Milaca in about 90 minutes. It's popular for fishing and boating, with winter ice fishing drawing visitors year-round. The Mille Lacs Indian Museum right on Highway 169 showcases local Ojibwe culture and history.
