Onalaska sits on Lake Livingston's western shore, 75 miles north of Houston in the East Texas Piney Woods. Take I-45 north to Huntsville, then Highway 190 east for the main route, or use Highway 356 from Cleveland. The humid subtropical climate supports dense pine forests around Texas's third-largest lake. The town hosts the annual Trinity River Catfish Festival each spring.
