Olton is a small farming town of about 1,550 people in the Texas High Plains, 40 miles northwest of Lubbock via US Highway 70. The area's flat cotton country and wind farms stretch endlessly under big skies, with easy driving on straight rural highways. The restored 1920s Olton Theatre downtown still shows weekend movies.
