Old Appleton is a tiny farming community of about 110 people in southeastern Missouri, about 15 miles northwest of Cape Girardeau via Route 72. The area is classic Missouri farmland with corn and soybean fields stretching between small woodlots. The town's 1904 one-room schoolhouse still stands as a piece of local history.
