Okmulgee is the county seat located 40 miles south of Tulsa via US 75. Visitors typically arrive on US 75 from Tulsa or take US 62 from the west. The drive from Oklahoma City takes about 90 minutes via I-40 east to US 62. The town sits in Oklahoma's Cross Timbers region and is home to the historic 1878 Creek Nation Capitol Building.
