Okemah sits along Highway 62 in east-central Oklahoma, about 70 miles from Oklahoma City and 90 miles from Tulsa. Most visitors take I-40 to Exit 221 at Henryetta, then follow Highway 62 south for 12 miles. The town is famous as Woody Guthrie's birthplace and hosts an annual folk festival each July.
