Obion is a small farming town in northwest Tennessee's agricultural belt, about 8 miles north of Union City via State Route 5. The main routes are SR-5 running north-south through town and SR-22 going east-west, with US Highway 51 accessible through Union City for longer trips. Most local traffic involves short commutes to Union City, while out-of-town visitors typically come via Interstate 155, about 25 miles southeast. The town's landmark grain elevator from the 1940s towers over the surrounding farmland and can be seen for miles.
