Nulato is a remote Yukon River village in Alaska's interior, accessible only by plane or boat since no roads reach the community. The village of 255 people serves as an Iditarod checkpoint and maintains traditional subsistence lifestyles. Nulato Airport connects to Fairbanks and regional hubs, while the Yukon River provides summer access by boat. The community still houses an old telegraph key from its days as an early 20th-century communication hub.
