Novice is a tiny Hill Country town of about 100 people, sitting 15 miles southeast of Coleman along Highway 206. Most visitors arrive via US 67, the main east-west route connecting Brownwood and San Angelo. Coleman Municipal Airport is 15 miles away for private aircraft. The town got its unusual name from an early merchant who locals jokingly called a "novice" at running his business.
