Norwood is a small North Carolina town of 2,400 people located 45 miles east of Charlotte in Stanly County. The main route is NC Highway 24/27 running through town, connecting west to Charlotte via US-74 and east toward the coast. Most visitors drive about an hour from Charlotte, while locals use the same highways for short trips to nearby Albemarle. The town serves as headquarters for the PEE DEE National Wildlife Refuge, managing over 8,400 acres of protected river bottomlands.
