Northome is a tiny community of 159 people in northern Minnesota's lake country, about 30 miles southeast of International Falls. Highway 6 is the main route in, connecting south to Grand Rapids and north toward the Canadian border. The area draws fishing and hunting enthusiasts to its wilderness setting along the Big Fork River. The town's 1902 log church, still in use today, reflects its Scandinavian and Finnish heritage.
