North Johns is a tiny Jefferson County community of 129 people, about 25 miles northwest of Birmingham via Highway 31 and county roads. Most visitors come from Birmingham or Cullman on day trips through Alabama's rolling hill country. The volunteer fire department still displays a vintage 1960s fire truck outside its station.
