North Bay is a tiny lakefront community of about 200 people on Lake Michigan's western shore, 25 miles south of Milwaukee via I-94 and Highway 20. The lake moderates the climate with cooler summers and milder winters than inland Wisconsin. Chicago visitors follow I-94 north for an hour to reach this quiet retreat popular with boaters and summer residents. The town features one of the few remaining historic Coast Guard stations along Wisconsin's Lake Michigan coast.
