Norman is a tiny unincorporated community in Richmond County, about 90 minutes south of Raleigh via US Highway 1. The area sits in North Carolina's Sandhills region with rolling hills and pine forests. Most visitors arrive via US 1 from Charlotte (2 hours) or Raleigh, with local access from State Route 177. The community lies near historic Mackall Army Air Field and sits along what was once the Great Wagon Road, the colonial trading route that helped settle the Carolina backcountry.
