Nightmute is a remote Yup'ik village of 93 people on Nelson Island in western Alaska's Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta. No roads reach the community - access is only by plane through Nightmute Airport or boat in summer. Most flights connect through Bethel, 48 miles northeast. The village name comes from "Negeqliq," meaning "place where people trade."
