Niceville sits between Choctawhatchee Bay and Eglin Air Force Base in northwest Florida's Panhandle, about 15 miles north of Destin. Most visitors take State Road 85 south from I-10, while locals use SR-20 for east-west travel to Fort Walton Beach and Crestview. Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport lies 20 minutes south. The city hosts the annual Mullet Festival each October, celebrating the local fish with music and food since 1976.
