Newhalen is a tiny Alaska village on Iliamna Lake, reachable only by plane or boat since no roads connect it to the outside world. Most visitors fly into Iliamna Airport 15 miles away, then take a bush plane or boat across the lake. The village serves as a jumping-off point for Bristol Bay fishing trips and maintains its own small airstrip for light aircraft.
