Newberry is a small Upper Peninsula town that serves as Luce County's seat, located about 60 miles northwest of the Mackinac Bridge. Highway M-28 runs east-west through town toward Munising and Marquette, while Route 123 heads north to Paradise and Lake Superior. The area features dense forests, lakes, and harsh winters with heavy snow from November through April. The Luce County Historical Museum operates in an 1894 sheriff's residence with original jail cells still intact.
