New Strawn is a small Kansas town of about 400 people located 60 miles southwest of Kansas City along US Highway 75. The main route from KC takes I-35 south to US-75 near Ottawa, then continues south about 30 miles through rolling prairie country. State Highway 131 provides east-west access to John Redmond Reservoir for fishing and boating. The entire town was relocated in the 1960s when the original site was flooded to create the reservoir.
