New Roads is a small Mississippi River town in Louisiana's Pointe Coupee Parish, about 25 miles northwest of Baton Rouge via Highway 1. The John James Audubon Bridge connects it to St. Francisville across the river, while Highway 190 provides east-west access. Most visitors arrive from Baton Rouge or use the town as a stopping point when exploring Louisiana's river parishes. The Pointe Coupee Parish Museum operates from a 1930s bank building with its original vault still intact.
