New Llano is a small Louisiana town of about 2,100 people located 15 miles south of Leesville on Highway 171. Most visitors arrive from Interstate 10 via Highway 171 north from Lake Charles (45 miles) or from Shreveport down Highway 171 (85 miles). The town sits in pine forest country near Fort Johnson and serves as a gateway to Kisatchie National Forest. The clear-running Kisatchie Bayou still flows through the community's southern edge.
