New Holstein is a farming community of 3,000 people in east-central Wisconsin, about an hour north of Milwaukee via Highway 32. The town sits among dairy farms and crop fields in Calumet County, connected to Interstate 43 by local highways. Most visitors arrive for the annual Firemen's Picnic in July, where volunteers have served their famous chicken barbecue dinner since 1949.
