New Haven is a lakeside city in southeastern Michigan, about 30 miles northeast of Detroit on Lake St. Clair's shore. Take I-94 east from Detroit, then M-29 north for the most direct route. The scenic M-29 corridor along the lake connects New Haven to other waterfront communities and serves daily commuters heading to the Detroit area. The town of 6,500 is popular with boaters and anglers, and the 1936 WPA-built Community Center still anchors downtown as the town's main gathering place.
