New Harmony is a historic river town 25 miles north of Evansville on State Road 66. Founded as a utopian community in the 1800s, it sits along the Wabash River near the Illinois border. The town preserves its experimental heritage through museums and historic sites. Most notable is the Roofless Church, a modernist concrete structure designed by Philip Johnson that remains open to the sky year-round.
