New Ellenton is a small South Carolina town of about 2,800 people, located 20 miles southeast of Augusta via US Highway 278. Most visitors exit I-20 at Highway 19 and drive south about 8 miles, or take US 278 from Aiken. The entire original town was relocated in the 1950s when Par Pond was created for the nearby Savannah River Site nuclear facility.
